Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19

On March 31, 2020, the Premier’s Office announced an extension to the provincial school closure period in response to COVID-19. As such, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools, child care centres and adult learning centres will not reopen on April 6, 2020, as originally scheduled. The Premier’s Office has stated that all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed until May 4, 2020, at which time they will reassess school openings. 

The following programs/meetings will not run or are closed:
  • Permits (Community Use of Schools)
  • All EarlyON and Child Care Centres
  • Adult and continuing education
  • Dual Credit and Cooperative education programs
  • Accessibility Advisory Committee (March 30, 2020)
  • First Nations Education Advisory Committee (April 2, 2020)
  • Special Education Advisory Committee (April 6, 2020)
  • Program Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)
  • Human Resources Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)
  • Business and Facilities Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)
  • Business and Facilities Standing Committee and SEAC Budget Meeting (April 15, 2020)
  • Parent Involvement Committee (April 21, 2020)
In addition, the Education Centre and the Career Centre are closed to the public.

Character Recognition Recognition<p>​</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"comic sans ms";">Character Recognition Evening – Thursday May 14, 2020</span></span></strong></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"comic sans ms";">At the annual Character Recognition Awards Evening, the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB), through the Character Education Development Project Team, recognizes students, staff, volunteers and employees of a co-operative education employer, who demonstrate good character in their daily lives.<span>  </span>This evening of recognition links directly to the Simcoe County District School Board’s Strategic Priorities under the pillars of Well-being, Equity Diversity and Inclusion and Community.<span> </span> <br></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"comic sans ms";">Each year nominations from schools, work sites and the Education Centre are received, highlighting the good character of our students, staff and volunteers.<span>  </span>From this group, randomly selected nominees are invited to the Education Centre in a celebration of those who exemplify the SCDSB Commit to Character attributes.<span>  </span>The Character Recognition Evening will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Education Centre beginning at 6:00 p.m.<span>  </span>The recognition process begins on February 3, 2020 and ends on February 21, 2020.<span>  </span>Recommendations can be made by emailing the Character Recognition Nomination Form (FORM 1) to <a href=""></a>. <br></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"comic sans ms";">The Character Recognition Nomination Form (FORM 1) is available on the staff website under Numbered Memos 2019-2020 – NM Forms, as well as under the Teaching and Learning page, and the SCDSB {ubic website </span></p> <span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11pt;font-family:"comic sans ms";"><a href=""></a></span>
